Overview
The Allen-Bradley 1756-M08SE is a ControlLogix chassis-based 8-axis Sercos interface module designed for integrated servo motion control in industrial automation systems. This module enables ControlLogix controllers to directly interface with Kinetix servo drives and permits integration of up to eight drives. The module can be used in the local chassis of a ControlLogix controller or in a chassis linked to a ControlLogix controller across ControlNet or EtherNet/IP networks. Series B revision provides proven reliability for demanding applications including material handling, packaging, and multi-axis positioning systems.
Key Features
- 8-Axis Servo Support: Supports up to eight drives with Sercos data rate of 4 Mbps and 8 Mbps.
- Multiple Control Modes: Supports position, velocity, and torque drive control modes.
- Flexible Cycle Times: At 4 Mbps, cycle time is 0.5 ms for up to 2 drives, 1 ms for up to 4 drives, and 2 ms for up to 8 drives; at 8 Mbps, cycle time is 0.5 ms for up to 4 drives, 1 ms for up to 8 drives, and 2 ms for up to 16 drives.
- Kinetix Drive Compatibility: Compatible with 2093 Kinetix 2000, 2094 Kinetix 6000, 2099 Kinetix 7000, and 2098 Ultra3000 SERCOS servo drives.
- Cost-Effective Solution: Compared to the 1756-M16SE which supports sixteen drives, the 1756-M08SE is a cost-effective solution for integrating lower numbers of drives.
- Redundancy Support: Supports controller redundancy when installed in distributed I/O racks.

Compatibility & Replacements
ControlLogix Integration: The 1756-M08SE is fully compatible with ControlLogix processors and operates within standard 1756 chassis. Studio 5000 Support: Programming and configuration are performed through Studio 5000 (formerly RSLogix 5000) development environment, providing seamless integration with existing ControlLogix systems.
Servo Drive Compatibility: This module works with Allen-Bradley Kinetix servo drives including the 2000, 6000, 7000, and Ultra3000 series. 16-Axis Alternative: For applications requiring control of more than 8 axes, the 1756-M16SE provides 16-axis capability using the same SERCOS protocol. Redundancy Considerations: When implementing redundant systems, this module must be installed in distributed I/O racks to support failover configurations with GuardLogix controllers.
