Typical Applications
Combined with Compact I/O modules, the CompactLogix platform is perfect for smaller, machine-level control applications with simple motion and is ideal for systems that require standalone and system-connected control over EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, or DeviceNet networks. Common uses include packaging equipment, printing systems, assembly lines, and distributed OEM machine control.
Compatibility & Replacements
Compatible With
- Compact I/O modules (1769 series)
- 1768-series communication modules
- CompactLogix expansion chassis
- EtherNet/IP networks (via communication modules)
- ControlNet and DeviceNet networks (via modules)
Replaces / Drop-In Replacement For
The 1768-L43 directly replaces earlier CompactLogix L43 revisions. The CompactLogix L43 2MB Memory Controller was discontinued as of June 30, 2020 and no longer available for sale; customers are encouraged to consider engineering replacements. For new applications, Rockwell recommends evaluating the CompactLogix 5370 series as a forward-compatible alternative with enhanced capabilities.
Works With
- RSLogix 5000
- Studio 5000 Logix Designer
- Logix5000 ecosystem
- EtherNet/IP protocol
- Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP (via software routines)
