Overview
The PLC-5 Ethernet Interface Module is a single-slot module that attaches to the side of any enhanced PLC-5 series B or later processor to provide Ethernet connectivity. It provides Ethernet connectivity for data exchange, programming, and monitoring of automation systems, enabling PLC-5 controllers to connect to Ethernet networks, supporting peer-to-peer communication, SCADA integration, and programming access from engineering workstations.
Key Features
- Single RJ45 Ethernet port supporting 10/100 Mbps transmission speed with auto-negotiation capability
- Ethernet 802.3 compliant TCP/IP protocol with 50 Volt circuit isolation using basic insulation type tested for 60 seconds at 500 Volts AC
- Supports up to 64 simultaneous connections with 512 definitions per module
- Built-in status indicators (STAT, 100M, 10M) displaying module Ethernet link activity and network connection speed
- Built-in Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) support with automatic response to SNMP requests and management information base (MIB) file maintenance
- When used with enhanced PLC-5 controller, enables EtherNet connectivity without disabling DH+/RIO ports; can run dual Ethernet links with Ethernet PLC-5 controller

Typical Applications
The 1785-ENET is used to provide Ethernet connectivity to a PLC-5 controller for implementation of Distributed I/O systems, communication to visualization systems such as Human Machine Interface (HMI), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and may also be used to communicate with programming devices for downloading of user programs and establishing online connection to the controller. It is suitable for legacy system modernization, process automation, and factory networking.
Compatibility & Replacements
This module is compatible with any enhanced PLC-5 series B or later processor. Variants include 1785-ENET/A, 1785-ENET/B, and 1785-ENET/C. The Rev D01 indicated in the product title refers to the revision level. This product has been discontinued by the manufacturer. For PLC-5 systems requiring Ethernet connectivity, this module provides a field-proven solution with direct channel 3A configuration support. Legacy PLC-5 processors without built-in Ethernet ports can be upgraded using this interface module for modern network integration.
