Overview
The Allen-Bradley 1761-NET-AIC (AIC+ Advanced Interface Converter) is a purpose-built network adapter for connecting DF1-enabled devices to DH-485 communication networks. It provides isolated RS-232 to RS-485 conversion with integrated electrical isolation, making it an essential component in legacy and hybrid MicroLogix and SLC automation systems that require bridging between incompatible serial protocols.
Key Features
- Dual RS-232 communication ports (one 9-pin DB-9, one 8-pin mini-DIN) plus one RS-485 DH-485 port for flexible connectivity
- 500 VDC internal isolation voltage ensures protection against ground loops and signal noise
- Supports up to 32 nodes per multidrop DH-485 network with maximum network length of 1219 m (4000 ft)
- Operates on 24 VDC external power or via communication cable supply
- DC power selection switch and communication rate selector for easy configuration
- Non-protocol converter: all devices must use the same communication protocol (DF1 or DH-485)
