Overview

The Bussmann NON-1 one-time fuse is a Class K5, non-current-limiting cartridge fuse rated at 1 Ampere, 250 VAC / 125 VDC. Manufactured by Eaton as part of the Bussmann series, this fuse offers straightforward overcurrent protection for general-purpose circuits where temporary electrical surges or motor overload transients are not expected. The NON-1 is a single-element design with ferrule terminals and a 50 kA interrupting rating at 250 Vac (50 kA at 125 Vdc), making it suitable for light-duty circuit locations and safety systems.

Key Features

  • Non-current-limiting — Direct replacement for Class K5 circuits; no specialized arc suppression
  • One-time operation — Must be replaced after a fault; fast-acting (no time delay)
  • Ferrule-to-ferrule end design — Standard fit in Class H/K fuse blocks
  • Melamine body construction — Durable ceramic housing resistant to thermal stress
  • 50 kA interrupting rating — Safe interruption of high fault currents in low-voltage circuits

Technical Specifications

  • Voltage Rating: 250 VAC / 125 VDC
  • Current Rating: 1 Ampere
  • Class: K5 (and compatible with Class H)
  • Type: Non-current-limiting, one-time (fast-acting)
  • Interrupting Rating: 50 kA @ 250 Vac | 50 kA @ 125 Vdc
  • End Terminals: Ferrule x ferrule (0.1875″ dia x 0.38″ length)
  • Body Dimensions: 0.56″ diameter × 2.0″ length (14.22 mm × 50.8 mm)
  • Material: Melamine cartridge with ceramic element
  • Approvals: UL, CSA, CE
  • Series: NON (Bussmann)
  • Package Contents: 10 fuses per lot

Typical Applications

The NON-1 fuse is designed for lighting, heating, and general-purpose branch circuits where short-circuit currents are relatively low and temporary electrical transients (motor inrush, inductive switching) are minimal. Typical uses include:

  • Lighting circuits and fixture protection
  • Small heating element circuits
  • Safety and security system circuits
  • Control and signaling circuits
  • Any non-surge-critical low-amperage load

Not recommended for: Motor circuits, transformers with inrush current, or systems requiring time-delay protection. For motor protection, Bussmann recommends dual-element, time-delay fuses such as the FUSETRON FRN-R or Low-Peak LPN-RK series.

Compatibility & Replacements

Compatible With

  • Class H/K fuse blocks and holders (ferrule-end cartridge style)
  • 250 VAC / 125 VDC low-voltage distribution systems
  • Industrial control panels and electrical enclosures
  • Standard circuit breaker panel backup fusing

Replaces / Drop-In Replacement For

  • Bussmann NON series fuses (1A rating across legacy product lines)
  • Littelfuse NLN-1 equivalent
  • Mersen OT-1 equivalent
  • Other Class K5 1A non-current-limiting cartridge fuses with ferrule terminals

Works With

  • Any Class H or K5-rated fuse block (push-in or screw-down)
  • Low-voltage AC/DC distribution systems (industrial, commercial, residential)
  • UPS backup circuits and safety relay circuits
  • Standard overcurrent coordination with Class H/K time-delay fuses downstream
