Overview
The Allen-Bradley 194R-HS4E /A operating handle is a disconnect switch accessory engineered for manual control and isolation in industrial electrical systems. This disconnect switch handle is fully compatible with Allen-Bradley IEC and UL disconnect switches belonging to the Bulletin 194R rotary disconnect switches. Its door-mounted rotary design enables independent opening and closing of the control panel door regardless of main contact position.
Key Features
- Defeater Mechanism: Red and yellow colors for emergency applications with operating handle featuring a defeater mechanism
- Robust Construction: Heavy-duty design rated for harsh industrial environments and frequent operation
- LOTO Capability: Accommodates up to three padlocks in the OFF position, enabling secure lockout/tagout procedures and allowing multiple personnel to maintain exclusive control over circuit reactivation
- Versatile Applications: Suitable for use in disconnecting switches in machine tools, control panels, panel boards, and switchboards
- Regulatory Compliance: CE listed, UL listed, and CSA certified
Technical Specifications
The handle features two operating positions—”on” and “off”—and provides the facility to disconnect and isolate a whole circuit, part of a circuit, or a single load. It provides protection against short circuits and is suitable for disconnectors with self-protected isolation and high breaking capacity, and can be used with inductive load rated switches.
Typical Applications
The 194R-HS4E /A is designed for industrial automation and control environments where manual disconnect and isolation are required. Common installations include:
- Machine tool electrical cabinets
- Industrial control panels and switchboards
- Emergency shutdown and isolation circuits
- Maintenance and service disconnection points
- Lockout/tagout (LOTO) safety procedures
Compatibility & Replacements
The 194R-HS4E operates with all Allen-Bradley IEC and UL disconnect switches in the Bulletin 194R rotary disconnect switch line and comes in red and yellow colors for emergency applications with defeater mechanism. Many options in mounting and different operating mechanisms allow installation in almost all cabinet types, with various handles available in different sizes and colors with panel cutout. This handle was officially discontinued by Rockwell Automation on April 30, 2013, due to obsolescence of associated components, making this surplus unit valuable for legacy system repair and maintenance.
