Overview
The Allen-Bradley 1756-L61 is a ControlLogix 5561 processor designed for modular control within the 1756 chassis platform. With 2MB of user memory and 478KB of I/O memory, this processor delivers the performance required for mid-scale discrete and analog I/O applications. Built-in RS-232 communication enables direct serial connectivity for configuration, diagnostics, and legacy system integration. Although discontinued by Rockwell Automation as of June 2017, the 1756-L61 remains a trusted option for replacement and maintenance in established ControlLogix systems.
Key Features
- 2MB User Memory — sufficient for complex ladder logic, structured text, and function block programs
- Integrated RS-232 Port — supports DF1 (half/full duplex), ASCII, DF1 radio modem, DH-485, and Modbus via logic
- Up to 128,000 Digital I/O and 4,000 Analog I/O — scalable via communication modules and remote I/O
- 32 Concurrent Tasks — each task can host up to 100 programs for sophisticated control logic
- SERCOS Motion Interface — integrated motion control for servo and stepper systems
- 250 Simultaneous Network Connections — supports distributed I/O and redundancy
- Optional Nonvolatile Storage — expand memory with 128MB CompactFlash (1784-CF128)
