Overview
The Allen-Bradley 1394C-AM04 /C servo controller is a Series C axis module from the 1394 family of multi-axis digital servo drives. This module converts DC power supplied by compatible 1394 system modules into variable AC voltage for driving servo motors in industrial motion control systems. Designed with a slide-and-lock wiring mechanism, it eliminates up to 100 individual wire terminals, reducing installation time and panel complexity.
Key Features
- 3 kW peak power output with continuous 4.5 A RMS and peak 9 A capacity for precision motor control
- 98% operating efficiency minimizes thermal load and power dissipation in cabinet installations
- Slide-and-lock connection to 1394 system modules simplifies wiring and reduces panel footprint
- Integrated inverter design with no external heatsink required for compact mounting
- Multi-axis configuration supports up to four axis modules per 1394 system for coordinated motion control
- Drop-in replacement for earlier 1394-AM04 Series A/B models in existing installations
Technical Specifications
The 1394C-AM04 /C operates from a 530–680 V DC input voltage range with a maximum continuous input current of 4.8 A. Output characteristics include 310–390 V AC, 3-phase, with 0–240 kHz frequency range. Speed regulation is maintained at 0–0.05% of base speed under full 100% torque load, with a static gain of 2.6 (RMS A/mV). The module features 110 µF capacitance and operates with a modulation frequency of 5 kHz ±10%.
Typical Applications
Common industrial applications include:
- Coordinated multi-axis material handling and press automation
- High-speed packaging and labeling machinery
- Machine tool spindle and feed axis control
- Robotics and handling equipment with synchronized servo motors
- Converting and printing press load/unload operations
Compatibility & Replacements
The 1394C-AM04 /C is fully interchangeable with earlier 1394-AM04 Series A and B axis modules in the same system. It is part of the obsolete 1394 product family but can be successfully migrated to the modern Kinetix 6000 motion control system for new designs. Compatible servo motors include the Allen-Bradley 1326AB and 1326AS series. System modules must be paired with appropriate protection devices: 1394x-SJT05-x (with 1492-CB3-H300), 1394x-SJT10-x (with 1492-CB3-H500), or 1394x-SJT22-x (with 1492-CB3-H600).
