Overview
The ABB AL40-30-10 is a robust, compact A-Line contactor from ABB’s proven magnetic contactor family. AL40 contactors are mainly used for controlling 3-phase motors and generally for controlling power circuits up to 690 V AC or 220 V DC, and can also be used for many other applications such as isolation, capacitor switching, lighting. The AL40-30-10 combines low-power DC coil consumption with reliable snap-action switching, making it ideal for PLC-controlled motor and load applications.
Key Features
- 3 pole, 60 amp, non-reversing design with 1 NO auxiliary contact
- Fitted with low consumption DC coils and suitable for direct control by PLC outputs
- Screw-clamp connections with DIN rail or surface mounting (54mm width)
- Meets IEC 60947-4-1 and UL/CSA ratings for North American and international installations
- Block-type 3-pole design enables tool-free addition of auxiliary contact blocks and mechanical/pneumatic timers

Compatibility & Replacements
The ABB AL40-30-10 is part of ABB’s modular A-Line contactor family. Similar IEC-rated contactors from competing suppliers include Schneider Electric TeSys series and Siemens SIRIUS models in the 37–60A range. For DC-operated variants with different coil voltages (12V DC, 48V DC, 110V DC), contact ABB or your distributor for cross-references. Auxiliary contact blocks and mechanical/pneumatic timers are available as add-on accessories for enhanced control flexibility.
