Overview

The Allen-Bradley 1746-NO4V Series A is a dedicated 4-point analog output module engineered for the SLC 500 family of programmable logic controllers. This Analog Output Module has Four (4) output channels that provide output Voltage range of -10 to +10 VDC. This module is used with SLC 500 fixed or modular style hardware. Factory-calibrated and manufactured in the United States, the 1746-NO4V converts digital signals from the CPU into precise analog voltage outputs for controlling industrial field devices.

Key Features

  • 4 Non-Isolated Voltage Outputs: 4 non-isolated analog voltage output channels that are capable of operating within a -/+10 Volts DC signal range
  • Dual Power Supply Options: The 1746-NO4V Analog Output Module utilizes 5 Volts DC or 24 Volts DC backplane power, and it also has connection terminals for an external user-supplied 24 Volts DC power supply to drive outputs.
  • High Resolution: 14-bit converter resolution, and uses the R-2R ladder for conversion
  • LED Status Indicator & Removable Terminal Block: Equipped with an LED status indicator and a removable terminal block (RTB).
  • Field Isolation: 500 Volts DC field wiring to backplane isolation

Technical Specifications

  • Output Range: -10 to 10 Volts -1 LSB DC
  • Output Accuracy: +/-0.208% of the full scale at 25 degrees Celsius ambient temperature
  • Output Resolution: -32768 to +32765 at a voltage of +/-10V DC with a per LSB output resolution rating of 1.221mV
  • Backplane Current Draw: 55 mA at 5 Volts and 145 mA at 24 Volts
  • Step Response Time: 2.5ms step response time
  • Maximum Load Current: 10 mA maximum load current
  • Operating Temperature: 0 to 60 degrees Celsius
  • Storage Temperature: -40°C to 85°C with a relative humidity tolerance of 5% to 95% (non-condensing)
  • Power Dissipation: 3.78 Watts maximum
  • Communication Format: 16-bit two’s complement binary communication format

Typical Applications

The module provides 4 channels of 0-10V voltage output, which can be used to interface with devices such as valves, motor drives, and other industrial equipment that accept a voltage signal. It is designed to work with SLC 500 processors and provides a flexible solution for controlling analog devices in industrial automation applications. The 1746-NO4V supports signal re-transmission, reference signaling for load-sharing functions, and process control applications requiring precise voltage outputs.
