Overview
The Allen-Bradley 1746-OW8 is an eight-point relay output module designed for the SLC 500 family of programmable logic controllers. The module is made by Allen-Bradley for use with the SLC 500 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) platform, and it is specifically compatible with fixed or modular style hardware for use with SLC 5/01, SLC 5/02, SLC 5/03, SLC 5/04 and SLC 5/05 controller. This relay output module provides isolated switching outputs for managing external loads in industrial control applications.

- Module is divided into two groups with four channels per group to allow operation with different or same voltages
- Normally Open (N.O.) relay contacts with isolated outputs, which helps prevent electrical noise from interfering with other devices on the system
- With the use of the 1746-OW8, the need of interposing relays may be eliminated. Interposing relays are typically used for operation with different voltage category, and as this module already supports the mentioned capability, the need for interposing circuit is eliminated, saving panel space and increasing cost effectiveness
