Overview
The Nolatron 4475 anti-tiedown switch monitor is a safety control module engineered to enforce two-hand operation on industrial machinery. Nolatron’s anti-tie down controls are an integral part of a two-hand start system for presses and other machinery, helping to comply with OSHA’s ‘two-hand trip’ and ‘control reliability’ regulations by requiring the machine operator to press both start switches simultaneously in order to start a machine cycle. The 4475 delivers hardwired safety logic without reliance on PLC scan cycles, making it suitable for machine builders and integrators seeking proven OSHA-compliant control.
Key Features
- PLC Interface capability for integration with programmable logic controllers
- Designed to meet the OSHA classification of “control reliability” per section 1910.217(13)
- Anti-tiedown logic prevents operator hand injury by requiring simultaneous hand switch activation
- Dual-channel monitoring ensures both start switches must be actuated within a defined time window
- Solid-state output relay for reliable signal transmission to downstream control systems
Technical Specifications
The Nolatron 4475 operates as part of Nolatron’s 4480 series product family. Each start switch is closed and delayed for .075 seconds before an internal relay is energized; if both start switches are closed within a time of .5 seconds, the output contact will close and the load will energize. The output contact will remain closed until one or both start switches are opened, and both switches must be released before another cycle is initiated.
Typical Applications
- Presses, welders, molders, and various production machines requiring two-hand protection
- Machinery where operator hand safety during startup is a regulatory requirement
- PLC-based automation systems needing OSHA-compliant safety interlocking
- Industrial equipment retrofits where control reliability must be enforced independently of the main controller
