Overview
The Lincoln Electric Excalibur E309L-16 is a shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) stick electrode designed for joining stainless steel to mild or low alloy steel. Classified as AWS A5.4 E309-16 and E309L-16, this electrode is engineered for reliable, corrosion-resistant welds in diverse applications. The 3/32″ diameter with 12″ length offers excellent versatility for both maintenance and fabrication work.
Key Features
- Flux coating produces smooth arc transfer in all welding positions except vertical down
- Low carbon (309L) designation minimizes carbide precipitation and enhances intergranular corrosion resistance
- Slag is self-peeling for easy removal
- Excellent arc stability, minimal spatter, and ease of use in all positions
- Available in 8 lb easy-open can packaging
- 24% chromium and 13% nickel composition for superior corrosion resistance
Technical Specifications
This electrode meets AWS A5.4 classification standards and is ideal for dissimilar metal joining applications.
Typical Applications
- Welding similar base metals of 309L or 304 stainless steel where corrosion resistance is required
- Repairs and fabrication in industrial conveyor systems
