Overview
The Allen-Bradley 1747-ASB is a remote I/O adapter module that establishes a communication link between SLC or PLC scanners and various 1746 I/O modules via Remote I/O. For PLC applications, the primary purpose of this module is to implement distributed I/O application over a Remote I/O network. The 1747-ASB module must be installed only in slot 0 (the left slot) of the remote chassis.
Key Features
- Communicates I/O data over a distance of up to 3040 meters and supports 57.6K, 115.2K, and 230.4K baud rates
- Supports 1/2-slot, 1-slot, and 2-slot addressing with efficient image utilization
- Supports both discrete and block transfer for image mapping
- Up to 32 SLC Chassis with 1747 RIO scanner may be used with applicable distances of 762 meters for 230.4 KBaud, 1524 meters for 115.2 KBaud and 3048 meters for 57.6 KBaud
- May be used to communicate with Allen-Bradley communication cards mounted to personal computers, enabling remote programming and configuration capability and remote control via SCADA
- Single-slot module installed in slot 0 of the remote chassis

Compatibility & Replacements
Installed in the chassis with the SLC 500 processor and it scans I/O in the chassis. Related modules include Allen Bradley 1746-ASB and Allen Bradley 1747-ASB/A. Configure via DIP switches for addressing and image size. Requires RSLogix 500 software for programming. Discontinued by manufacturer as of November 2013; available as surplus stock from authorized industrial distributors.
