Allen-Bradley 1771-OAD 12-120V AC Output Module
The Allen-Bradley 1771-OAD is a 12 to 120V AC output module designed for use within the PLC-2 series. This module utilizes zero-crossing technology, enabling it to activate outputs when the voltage is below a specified threshold, typically between 40 to 50V AC. This feature helps minimize stress on connected devices sensitive to current surges.

Compatibility
The 1771-OAD module is compatible with the following Allen-Bradley chassis:
- 1771-A1B through 1771-A4B or later I/O chassis
- 1771-AM1 and 1771-AM2 chassis
Note: This module is not compatible with the 1771-A1, 1771-A2, and 1771-A4 chassis models.

When integrating the 1771-OAD module with devices that include a single diode in series with the load, it’s recommended to place a 39 KOhm, 1 Watt shunt resistor across the load to ensure proper operation. Be aware that this resistor may cause the LED indicator to illuminate when the output is off; substituting the LED with an incandescent lamp can mitigate this effect.
For optimal performance and longevity, ensure that the total current draw from all modules within the I/O chassis does not exceed the backplane’s capacity. Proper installation and adherence to specified operating conditions will contribute to the reliable operation of the 1771-OAD module within your PLC system.
