Overview

The Allen-Bradley 1771-IR/D is a Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) input module engineered for the PLC-5 series. This RTD input module is designed for the Allen-Bradley PLC5 and features 6 three-wire RTD input channels with support for both Platinum and Copper RTDs for accurate temperature measurement in Celsius or Fahrenheit. This refurbished unit provides reliable analog temperature input capability for legacy and modern PLC-5 automation systems.

Key Features

  • Six three-wire RTD inputs accommodating multiple temperature sensors
  • Supports Natural Binary, BCD Actual Temperature, or Ohm Readings data formats offering flexibility in data representation
  • 16-bit resolution with 1.0°C or 1.0°F per bit sensitivity ensuring accurate temperature readings
  • Channel update time of 50 milliseconds for all six channels facilitating timely data acquisition
  • 800 milliamperes backplane current, eliminating the need for an external power supply
  • Open wire detection capable of detecting open wire conditions

Technical Specifications

  • Compatible with 100 Ohm platinum and 10 Ohm copper RTDs, as well as other sensors reporting in ohms
  • Temperature measurement range of -200 to +870 Degree Celsius for Platinum sensor and -200 to +260 Degree Celsius for Copper sensor
  • DC On-state signal delay of 10 milliseconds; DC Off-state signal delay of 50 milliseconds; AC Off-state signal delay of 45 milliseconds
  • Current draw from backplane: 950 mA at 5VDC with Power Dissipation of 4.75 Watts and Thermal Dissipation of 16.2 BTU/hr
  • Compatible with 1771-A1B, 1771-A2B, 1771-A3B and 1771-A4B I/O chassis
