Overview
The Allen-Bradley 1756-M16SE is a SERCOS (Serial Realtime Communication System) integrated motion module for the ControlLogix chassis-based platform. This SERCOS interface module is a link between the ControlLogix platform and the intelligent servo drives. The 1756-M16SE has 16 axes per module and 32 axes per controller. The module enables rapid, real-time communication between motion controllers and servo drive systems using fiber-optic cables that eliminate electromagnetic noise and interference typical of traditional hardwired architectures.
Key Features
- Uses 1 digital fiber-optic link that eliminates the need for up to 18 digital wires per axis
- SERCOS data rate is either 4 or 8 Mb/s and SERCOS cycle time is 1 ms for as many as 4 drives at 4 Mb/s and 0.5 ms for as many as 4 drives at 8 Mb/s
- Control modes regulate velocity, torque, and precision
- Detailed drive-status information can be sent from drive to controller and from controller to drive
- Noise-immune fiber-optic communication for harsh industrial environments
- Direct integration with ControlLogix platform for streamlined architecture
