Overview
The Allen-Bradley 1756-LSP is a GuardLogix safety partner module engineered for integration with primary GuardLogix safety controllers in ControlLogix chassis environments. It works alongside a primary GuardLogix controller to provide redundant safety processing, ensuring compliance with Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 3 and Performance Level (PL) e standards. This module is a safety partner module which acts as a co-processor for safety functions.

Typical Applications
The 1756-LSP is widely deployed in manufacturing, automotive, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, and packaging machinery where functional safety compliance is mandatory. The 1756-LSP safety partner is used for the 1756-L61S, 1756-L62S, and the 1756-L63S controllers. It should be installed in the slot to the right of the primary controller to satisfy SIL 3 requirements. The configuration of the 1756-LSP safety partner is dependent on the primary controller since it does not have its own key switch and communication port although it has an RS-232 port.
Compatibility & Replacements
A safety partner is required for each 1756 GuardLogix controller. The 1756-LSP pairs exclusively with 1756-L6xS series controllers (L61S, L62S, L63S). Certifications include UL, c-UL-us, CE, CSA, C-Tick, FM, ATEX, certified by TÃœV for Functional Safety. For newer 1756-L7xS architecture applications, the 1756-L7SP provides equivalent functionality with extended specifications.
