Overview
The Allen-Bradley 1757-SRM is a ProcessLogix and ControlLogix System Redundancy Module engineered to provide fault tolerance and high availability for critical industrial processes. This solid-state device is employed in critical industrial applications that should not be stopped under any circumstances, delivering automatic failover protection without process interruption.
Key Features
- Two-slot module with integrated Fiber Optic port compatible for 62.5/125 micron multi-mode fiber-optic cable with SC connector
- Used for implementing controller redundancy to increase a process system availability
- In the event of a major failure in the primary PLC, the redundancy system detects the failure and allows the secondary PLC to take control of the machine or process in order to keep it running
- Two identical ControlLogix chassis must be installed; the chassis size, the modules installed and positioning, System power supply and module revisions should match each other
Technical Specifications
- Power Backplane Current: 0.75 A @ 3.3V DC, 1.0 A @ 5.1V DC, 0.16 A @ 24V DC
- Power Dissipation: 11.28 watts
- Operating Temperature: 0 to 60°C
- Module Slots Required: 2 slots
- Fiber Optic Interface: SC connector, 62.5/125 micron multi-mode
- Synchronization Method: Fiber-optic cable (1757-SRCxx series)
Typical Applications
The 1757-SRM is ideal for critical process environments requiring continuous operation, including:
- Pharmaceutical manufacturing with zero-downtime requirements
- Food and beverage production systems
- Oil and gas process control
- Power generation and utility management
- Water treatment facilities
