Overview

The Allen-Bradley 1747-SN Series B is a Remote I/O Scanner module designed for the SLC 500 PLC family. It is the remote I/O scanner for the SLC 500 that enables communication between an SLC processor (SLC 5/02 or later) and remotely located 1746 I/O chassis and other RIO compatible Allen-Bradley operator interface and control devices. Communication between devices occurs over twisted pair cable with the devices daisy-chained together. This module serves as the master device in a Remote I/O link topology, managing multiple slave adapter units for centralized control of distributed I/O.

Key Features

  • Single RIO Port: Provides a dedicated three-pin interface for remote I/O communication using approved cabling.
  • Long-Distance Capability: Supports cable runs up to 3048 meters for widespread device placement in industrial layouts.
  • Multi-Baud Operation: Offers selectable data rates including 57.6 Kbaud and 230.4 Kbaud for adaptable network performance.
  • Can connect up to 16 devices in the normal mode or 32 devices in the complementary mode.
  • The scanner can reside in any slot of the local SLC chassis except for slot 0.
  • LED indicators show normal communication and fault status updates.

Technical Specifications

  • Communication Protocol: Allen-Bradley Remote I/O (RIO) Link
