Overview
The Allen-Bradley 1746-OV32 /D is a digital DC output module designed for SLC 500 programmable logic controllers. This Series D module provides 32 discrete sinking output channels arranged in two groups of 16 channels each. The 1746-OV32 /D delivers high-density I/O capability in a single chassis slot, making it suitable for applications requiring extensive output point control without occupying multiple module positions.
Key Features
- 32 discrete DC output channels in high-density configuration
- Sink wiring support with 5-50V DC nominal voltage of 24V
- 0.50A continuous output current per channel at 30°C
- Series D design: unfused with higher current ratings than earlier series
- 1500VAC isolation voltage between outputs and backplane
- Compatible with 1746-NC3 connector and 1492 terminal block wiring systems
- Two output groups, each with isolated V dc and common pins

Typical Applications
The 1746-OV32 /D is used in manufacturing, process automation, material handling, HVAC systems, and high-speed assembly operations. Applications include solenoid coil control, relay driving, LED indicator lighting, pneumatic actuator control, and general discrete output requirements. It serves as a legacy module replacement in existing SLC 500 systems upgrading or expanding output capacity.
Compatibility & Replacements
The 1746-OV32 /D mounts directly into any SLC 500 chassis without modification. It is compatible with RS-Logix 500 programming software and all SLC 500 processors. The module may be configured as local I/O (directly in the chassis) or remote I/O via network interfaces. Replacement wiring options include the standard 1746-NC3 connector or the 1492 modular wiring system. Note: Rockwell Automation discontinued this product as of November 24, 2022. However, the 1746-OV32 /D remains serviceable and supported for existing installations, with repair services available through Rockwell Automation.
