Description

Allen-Bradley 1771-P4S /B 120V AC Power Supply Module

The Allen-Bradley 1771-P4S /B is a robust 120V AC power supply module designed to deliver reliable power to PLC-5 systems within the 1771 Universal I/O chassis. This module ensures consistent performance for industrial automation applications.

Key Features

  • Input Voltage: Operates within a range of 97 to 132 VAC, with a nominal input of 120 VAC at 47–63 Hz.
  • Output Capacity: Provides a steady 5 VDC output at up to 8 A, suitable for powering various I/O modules.
  • Compact Design: Occupies a single slot in the I/O chassis, optimizing space utilization.
  • Parallel Operation: Supports parallel configuration with another 1771-P4S module using a 1771-CT paralleling cable, effectively doubling the current capacity to 16 A.
  • Protective Features: Equipped with a 1.5 A, 250 V slow-blow fuse to safeguard against overcurrent conditions.

Installation and Compatibility

The 1771-P4S /B module is compatible with Allen-Bradley 1771-A1B, -A2B, -A3B, and -A4B Universal I/O chassis. It can be installed in any slot except the leftmost one, which is reserved for the Remote I/O Adapter Module. For enhanced current capacity, two 1771-P4S modules can be connected in parallel using the 1771-CT paralleling cable. Note that this configuration increases current capacity but does not provide redundancy.

Operational Considerations

Before inserting the module into the I/O chassis, ensure the power switch is off and the 120 VAC cable is disconnected. Insert the module into the chassis slots, apply firm pressure to seat it properly, and secure it with the chassis latch. After connecting the 120 VAC power, turn on the power switch. The front panel features a P/S ACTIVE indicator; a green light signifies normal operation. If the indicator is off, the module may have detected conditions such as DC over-voltage, DC under-voltage, DC over-current, AC under-voltage, or other issues.

For optimal performance and safety, always adhere to the manufacturer’s installation and operational guidelines.
